Mitch Depew is a New Jersey-born fiddle and banjo player currently living in Spain. He has always faithfully studied and learned from field recordings of great old-time musicians, listening to and analyzing the detail of master players’ techniques and quirks that set them apart while developing his own style.

He attends the Appalachian Stringband Festival at Clifftop every year. He placed 1st in the banjo competition in 2025 and 2nd place in the fiddle competition in 2022. Mitch is an experienced workshop leader, teaching courses around the world.
