About me

Mitch Depew is a New Jersey-born fiddle and banjo player living in Granada, Spain. He has faithfully studied and learned from field recordings of great old time musicians, analyzing the details of master players’ techniques and quirks that set them apart while developing his own style.

An experienced workshop leader and performer, Mitch teaches and plays around Europe and attends the Appalachian Stringband Festival at Clifftop, WV, every year. He placed 1st in the Clifftop banjo competition in 2025 and 2nd place in the fiddle competition in 2022.
